NSW crash leaves 1 dead and 5 injured

ONE person has been killed and five injured in a two-car collision in northern NSW.

Two of the injured are in a serious condition.

Emergency services were called to a crash at Water Fall Way in Ebor, about 40km east of Armidale, about 8am (AEST) today.

The rear-seat passenger of one of the vehicles died at the scene, police said.

A 20-year-old woman who suffered head injuries and a 17-year-old boy with back and chest injuries were airlifted to Tamworth Base Hospital. They are in a serious condition.

Two females aged 17 and 54 and a 56-year-old male have been taken to Armidale Hospital in a stable condition.

Waterfall Way is closed in both directions as a result of the collision and diversions are in place.

Police are still at the scene and they expect the road to remain closed for a number of hours.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
