Ballina man stabbed to death with steak knife

A MAN is due to appear in Lismore Local Court this morning charged with murder after allegedly stabbing another man four times in the chest with a steak knife.

A man was in a hotel at Ballina about 6.25pm yesterday when he was allegedly approached by another man and stabbed four times in the chest.

The alleged offender fled the scene in a waiting car.

The injured man was taken to Ballina Hospital, where he died a short time later.

An hour later, a 24-year-old man attended Ballina police station about 7.20pm.

He was charged with murder, refused bail and will appear before Lismore local Court today.
